Titanium dioxide is a very interesting subject in cosmetics because it's quite complex to decipher, so we'll try to be exhaustive in our response, so please bear with us. This ingredient has been the subject of numerous studies on its impact on health, and here's the current scientific consensus:
- Its use in food products is banned in Europe due to the risk of cancer and its potential genotoxicity.
- In cosmetics, it's a different story: it's an ingredient widely used for its pigmentary, opacifying and sun protection properties, and is authorized and accepted by all organic and ecological labels. In the case of La Crique, we use it for its pigmentary properties.
- There is some debate about the use of the ingredient in nano-particulate form, as scientists fear that it could pass through the skin barrier. For this reason, we exclude its use in nano particle form in our products.
